Lily and the Bear

Dear Fawn,

Lily lives in the remote village of Chajalajya, in Guatemala, and did not have access to storybooks before the Book Mobile arrived. Now, she can read books with friends, and read to her two younger brothers.

Lily especially loves bears, so she chose Leonor Osa Menor. This book has pictures that can teach her about animals that live in the forest.

Thanks to your generous donation of a book, Lily will be able to continue learning and reading with other children in her community!

A desk is a luxury!

SAMSUNG DIGIMAX A503
Dear Bradley, Emily, Gail, George, billy, Leo, Katelyn, Haris, Ehtasham, Adam, Akiko, Anil, Bill, Bill, and Chris,

The twenty-five desks delivered to Mirador Tewjuju School in Tecpan, Guatemala caused a great commotion. As they were being unloaded from the truck the children were already sitting on them.  The conditions in the classroom, prior to the arrival of the new desks, were dire.

Large uncomfortable tables and benches were used; they occupied so much space that little room was left for other activities. The children worked diligently to empty and clean the room, and set up the new desks.

The Director of the Mirador Twejuju School and the teacher and students in this classroom are very grateful for your generous support! Sitting in a brand new desk is a true luxury.

Mish receives a special book!

Dear Howard,

Mish loves the book you sent and is very grateful.  Mish lives in Chajalajya, a small rural village in the Guatemalan Highlands and his parents are not able to afford books for their children.

Mish is happy because “Gato con Botas” (Puss in Boots) is the story of a cat, and his parents call him Mish (a Guatemalan word for cat) because he cuddles next to the wood stove to keep warm when its cold outside.  Mish very much enjoys the pictures. His older brother reads to him, since he is five years old and cannot read yet.

Thank you so much Howard for your kind gift. Mish is extremely appreciative of this gift!
